About your host

Im Aoife, a mother of two, based in Bristol, UK, with a life and work that has taken me through many different worlds. I travelled extensively when I was younger, and have worked in video production and youth work, as well as training as a Shadow Work® coach. For many years I have been in service to the sweat lodge tradition, an experience that has deeply shaped my relationship with heat, ceremony, community and the natural world.
Motherhood has been another profound part of that journey. It has changed the way I see time, connection, the body and the importance of creating spaces where we can slow down and be present. Becoming a mother has also strengthened my desire to explore the things we inherit — what we carry from those who came before us, and what we choose to pass on. I’m of Irish descent, and this connection has led me to become increasingly curious about the ancient sweat practices of these islands and the ways our ancestors may have worked with heat, nature, grief, joy and togetherness.
What interests me most is what might be reclaimed — not by trying to recreate a past we can no longer fully know, but by remembering some of what has been lost. I’m interested in spaces where we can sweat, talk, be quiet, grieve, laugh, express ourselves and simply be human. I think motherhood has made me particularly aware of how little space modern life can leave for these things, and how valuable it is to create intentional moments to reconnect. Sauna feels like a beautiful meeting point for all of this: an old and elemental practice, experienced in a way that feels relevant to life now.
